My twenty-six years in grant administration provided me with a front-row seat to the inner workings of government funding decisions. I gained a deep understanding of the strategic thinking behind grant allocations and the specific language and data that resonate with funding bodies at the local, provincial, and federal levels.

 

Now, I leverage this insider knowledge to empower organizations within the culture sector. I can facilitate strategic and operational planning for your organization, and prepare a final written strategy that summarizes strategy, goals, objectives and action plans. My approach, which will be tailored to each organization, may include:

• Research and environmental scan relevant to the sector. The research may involve a survey of members or relevant stakeholders.

• SWOT analysis: a review of the strengths and weaknesses of the organization, and the opportunities and threats from the environment.

• Risk analysis.

• Review and development of values, vision and mission statement.

• Priority setting; development of goals and objectives.

• Review of the structure of the organization, in light of the work the organization wishes to accomplish.

• Development of logic models for each priority area in order to identify measurable results.

As a facilitator, I combine my years of experience in government and the not-for-profit sector with my knowledge and training as a psychotherapist to deliver practical training sessions that respect and support the learners in the room.
