My Professional Path

My career began researching and writing the history of parks and recreation in Thunder Bay, and expanded to other fascinating contracts with the City in policy and research. I then moved on to the provincial government, where I spent 26 years, including 16 in senior management. It was a privilege to lead teams in dynamic sectors like culture, tourism, sport, and immigration. This experience provided invaluable insights into strategic planning, grants management, and organizational development. Beyond government, I enjoyed leadership roles in the not-for-profit sector, including serving as executive director of the Ontario Fitness Council and managing director, producer and tour manager for professional dance companies. My extensive executive background now fuels my consulting services, where I assist various organizations in achieving their goals.

My Therapeutic & Dance Journey

My passion for deeper understanding led me back to school. I earned a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in 2023, and a Diploma in Dance/Movement Therapy from the National Centre for Dance Therapy in Montreal in 2021. My connection to dance/movement therapy dates back to my Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts (1983) and Master of Arts (2002) in Dance from York University.

I am proud to be President of the Dance Movement Therapy Association of Canada, the national organization that recently launched certification for dance/movement therapists in Canada. I offer psychotherapy services at the Thunder Bay Naturopathic Clinic and am thrilled to be offering dance/movement therapy as well.

A Lifelong Love of Dance

Dance has been a constant in my life, shaping me from my childhood in Thunder Bay through my university studies and professional career. I've engaged with the dance world as a dancer, choreographer, teacher, tour manager, and producer. My recent certification as a C-I Training (conditioning with imagery) teacher further enriches my ability to share the profound connection between mind and body through movement.
